At Avalon Oral Care Centre, oral health education is a key part of our remit – as dentists and hygienists, our priority is keeping you dentally fit for life. There is a proven connection between poor oral hygiene and chronic health conditions such as diabetes and heart disease, so if you keep your teeth and gums clean, you can insure yourself against the future costs of dental work and also mitigate against future health problems.  When you come for your regular hygienist visits, we’ll give you tips and advice on how best to maintain your smile, dental and general health.

Completely safe, chemical-free and actually more gentle on your teeth and gums than traditional cleaning tools, our Air-Flow jet polish system combines air, water and a fine bicarbonate powder into a focused stream that blasts plaque and stains off your teeth and under the gum line. Some of the advantages of Air-Flow over traditional cleaning are that it’s more efficient, faster and better at removing surface stains.

Periodontal therapy for advanced gum disease

Periodontics is the field of dentistry concerned with treating advanced gum disease – and we take this very seriously. Why? Because healthy gums are the key to healthy teeth and an attractive smile. At Avalon Oral Care Centre, periodontal treatment encompasses a number of measures appropriate to the severity of your gum disease and can range from establishing a robust oral hygiene routine at home and hygienist appointments at the practice to more advanced therapy with your dentist. This can be both surgical, including using our high-tech dental laser, and non-surgical, such as with the innovative PerioChip insert or antibacterial gels to eradicate bacteria.
